Sell Smart

Sell Smart

One (small) positive about the coronavirus lockdowns is the time you have to do things you wouldn’t normally do. For example: Sell your old stuff. Now is a good opportunity to sort through your old things and sell them for cold hard cash. Here are some apps to use to make that process easier.

Letgo

You can use Letgo to sell anything from a watch to a car. The app has a marketplace that allows for easy connections between sellers and buyers. It also verifies users so you know it’s safe to make transactions with them. You do have to make the sales in person, so make sure you conduct any meetings in a public place. Letgo is free so you keep every cent of every sale.

Mercari

If you don’t want to meet people in person to complete a sale, try Mercari. You can sell most anything on Mercari, and it takes care of shipping for you. You can either pack and ship your items yourself, using Mercari’s postage, or take your items to a UPS store where they’ll pack and ship for you for free. The catch is that Mercari takes a 10 percent commission on every transaction.

Decluttr

Decluttr is a good site to sell used tech. Simply input the item’s barcode and you’ll receive an instant price estimate. US News reports that the price quote is guaranteed for 28 days. If you think the quote is accurate, pack and ship the item for free via Decluttr’s partnership with UPS. Once Decluttr receives the product, they’ll deposit your money in your bank or PayPal account.
