The winter months aren’t typically when people sell homes, however, sometimes it just has to happen. If you’re one of the few people who must sell their home during the winter — perhaps you have to move for a job — there are some things you can do to make the process easier. Check out some tips below.
As USA Today reports, don’t wait to take pictures of your home. A snow-covered home surrounded by barren trees isn’t exactly pleasing to the eye. Have a photographer take pics during the warmer months and use those to entice buyers. If you can’t make that happen, aim for pics during the fall months, when trees can pop with color. Barring that, use the best amateur pic of your home during the non-winter months. Then use pro pics for the inside.
Landscaping Never Stops
We understand the grass isn’t growing anymore, but you must maintain your landscape. Rake the leaves. Trim the trees. Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean you get to relax about curb appeal.
Make It Warm
Buyers out and about during the winter months will be seeking warmth, so make your home a cozy spot. Bump up the heat just a bit. Have some hot chocolate available. Turn on the gas fireplace if there is one. The more comfortable the buyers feel, the better.
Light It Up
The winter months are dark and dreary, so pay extra attention to lighting. Make sure every light is working and shines just the right amount of light in every room.
