    Online Payments and due dates

I make all my payments online. Either through my banks website or on the credit cards companies website. I write maybe two actual checks a month.

When you go to the credit card companies website and make the payment there, often times the date that the payment will be posted to your account or will show as being made is defaulted to the due date on the statement. If you are making the payment before that date, MAKE SURE YOU CHANGE THAT DATE. I forgot to do that last month and of course it cost me more in interest. This morning I was making payments again and almost missed it this month.

It's important to watch and pay attention to those dates both on the statement and on the websites.

Re: Online Payments and due dates

Some CC sites will allow you to edit a payment after you've submitted it. One time I missed updating the payment date and they used my statement due date (very annoying default) and I was able to change it on my BOA account the next day so it was paid before the statement due date. What I do now is once I make a debt payment online the next business day I will logon to my bank account to make sure that the payment has processed. If I don't see the deduction then I log into my CC account and check to make sure nothing is hinky.
